It all started in 1965 in Hoboken, New Jersey…on Washington Street, three high school friends had $2,500 in borrowed money and a simple way to make sandwiches the way you would at home. Choose from the finest quality meat, cheeses and toppings, and pile them high while the customer waits for a fresh, taste satisfying sandwich. The idea for a name appeared when they noticed that the new hoagie sandwich was similar in shape to a “Blimp.” They laughed and shouted, “BLIMPIE.” And, the identity for America’s Best Dressed Sandwich® was born.
